Purchasing Information

Deposits for either sex are $300

To reserve a doodle requires a $300 deposit (non-refundable) which is applied to the total purchase price of the puppy. We accept cash, personal check, money order, PayPal (friends and family) and Venmo.

We receive a lot of inquiries from people interested in our puppies. The fairest and most efficient way in which we adopt out our puppies is to require a deposit then have people select their puppy based on the order in which we receive their deposit (we call this their “pick order”). In other words, a first come, first served process. Whenever we have a litter we use this reservation list to let you know your pick order. Our reservation list may be very fluid based on several factors. Some people may not be ready for a puppy but may send in a deposit for a future litter. Some people may elect to pass on a litter based on personal issues. Some may want a puppy with very specific characteristics (coat color and texture, size etc,) that we cannot provide based on their pick order so they may elect to wait for the next litter (in which they most likely will have a higher pick order and more puppies to choose from). Also, some people may send us a deposit but are not sure what gender they want. At some point near “puppy pick day” we will ask that people who have not made up their mind regarding gender do so in order for us to proceed with scheduling puppy pick day and/or contacting the next person on our reservation list if the previous person passes. Lastly, on rare occasions we may have a “back-up list” in case a person passes on selecting a pup in a current litter and we do not have anyone else with a paid reservation that imay be interested. People who want to be on a back-up list do not have to pay a deposit (entire purchase price still applies) but will only be able to select a puppy from that current litter and will not be considered as having reserved a puppy (unless they decide to pay a deposit which they will then be placed in order on our reservation list).

As you can see, it is a very time consuming and challenging process for us but please be assured, we make every effort to be fair and transparent with everyone. We do this because we do not want anyone to “settle” for a puppy, we want each person or family to get the puppy they want, the puppy of their dreams!

Selecting and Taking your Puppy Home

Our puppies usually go home at 7-8 weeks of age. Dependent on how many puppies/litters we have available, we may have “Puppy Pick” day(s) prior to the actual “Puppy Pick Up” day(s) when the pups actually go home. We try to eliminate as much traveling to us as we can for our customers so whenever possible combine puppy pick and puppy pick up in the same day, most often on a weekend. If we have to split the two up, puppy pick is usually on a weekend when the pups are around 5 weeks of age, puppy pick up is usually two weeks later. We try to get it all done on a Saturday but when we have a lot of puppies we may have to schedule both Saturdays and Sundays. If puppy pick and puppy pick up day is combined, your appointment time will be based on pick order. If the two events are separated, puppy pick up appointments will be scheduled with you on puppy pick day. We will advise you of the dates for any of these events at least two weeks ahead of time. Please be on time for any appointment with us, especially if you are picking out your puppy. We schedule each customer to have a full hour to interact and play with the puppies in order to make their selection. Most of the time there will be someone else coming to pick out their puppy an hour behind you so if you are late, you will only have the time remaining in your blocked hour to pick out your puppy. If we have a puppy pick day that you cannot attend we can work with you using FaceTime, videos, pictures etc. in order for you to pick out your puppy.

After the birth of a litter we will send pictures, updates and information about the pups to those on our reservation list whose turn it is to select from the pups that we currently have. People who have a reservation with us or may be interested in a future puppy from us may visit us, by appointment, but cannot handle any puppy until the pups are 5 weeks old. This is for 2 reasons: puppies immune systems are not developed enough to be handled before 5 weeks of age and secondly, they do not start to show their personalities and act like puppies until 5 weeks or greater of age.

When the puppies are 7-8 weeks old, they will be ready to be picked up and taken to their new homes. They will have had their dew claws removed, they will be up to date on vaccinations and worming meds, and they will be micro chipped for identification (unless you do not want them microchipped). Prior to taking a puppy home, the remainder of the purchase price of the puppy must be paid. WE ONLY ACCEPT CASH ON PUPPY PICK UP DAY.

On Puppy Pick Up Day you will receive:

  • A signed copy of the Bill of Sale/Health Guarantee

  • A starter pack of puppy food

  • A copy of your Puppy’s Veterinarian record (shots/worming record)

  • A CKC registration form

  • Information regarding your pup’s micro chip

When you pick up your puppy to take home we recommend you have:

  • A Crate or Pet Carrier for travel and Crate training

  • Toys for your puppy

  • A collar and leash

  • Food and Water containers.

SHIPPING POLICY

If at all possible please try to pick up your puppy personally. We believe that NOBODY will look after your puppy like you will. If not, the following options may be available.

  • Delivery by Dara’s Doodles- Dependent on where you live and our schedule, we may be able to deliver or at least meet you somewhere in order for you to receive your puppy.  These arrangements will have to be discussed with us well in advance and we may have to charge a fee to cover our travel expenses.

  • By Airline- Due to the complexity, the amount of time involved,  and the regulatory oversight on animal travel by air, we do not offer puppy shipment by air at this time.

  • By Shippers Specializing in Pet Transport- We believe this is the best alternative if you cannot pick up your puppy personally. There are numerous Pet Transport Services offered on the internet, please do your research when selecting one. The International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA.org) maintains a list of credible Pet Shippers (both ground and air) and is a great place to start when searching for a shipper. You will need to make all of the arrangements, usually several weeks in advance, and be responsible for all charges incurred. We will do everything within our power to work with you and your shipper to facilitate the delivery. We will not be responsible for anything that may happen to your puppy while in the shippers care.  We also reserve the right to refuse to hand over a puppy to any person/shipper that in our opinion, does not appear to be willing and or capable of providing safe transport of your puppy.
